As a general rule, it's a good idea to get your cat to come indoors for the night by feeding dinner at a regular time and then shutting them in. This will also reduce the risk of fighting, car accidents and other dangers.

Most cats enjoy being inside and many cat owners prefer to keep their pets inside all the time for extra safety. Indoor cats make happy, well adjusted and fun loving companions as long as you provide plenty of mental stimulation.

If you do decide to keep your cat indoors, you will need to provide toys, a scratching post or even an inside cat garden to help keep your feline friend occupied during the day. WHISKAS® with VITA-BITES® has a special indoor variety for the different dietary requirements of cats that spend a more sedentary lifestyle and use the litter tray.

Cats like a garden to explore. If your cat is an inside cat, grow a small garden with cat mint or cat grass. Your cat can chew these safely and will leave your other plants alone.

Not all cats hunt, but those that do tend to hunt specific creatures. If your cat is a hunter you can use a collar and bell, although these may not be effective. You could allow your cat into the backyard but confined to a cattery or enclosure. Make sure your cat is inside between dusk and dawn to reduce their success.
