Most cats are naturally clean animals so you should not have too much trouble toilet-training your kitten.

Decide where you want your kitten to go to the toilet (either in the litter tray or in a designated spot in the garden) and put your kitten there first thing in the morning, last thing at night, after a sleep and after each meal. It will soon realise that each time it needs to go to the toilet it will need to use this spot.

Should it have an accident though never punish it. A firm "No" will be enough to tell your kitten that this is not appropriate behaviour.
