I would like people's opinion of where the Pet Food is situated in supermarkets. Why is it in the same aisle as ratsack etc ?

Where else could they store them? Not that I needed any rat poisons, but they are or should be quite well sealed. As should the pet food be sealed also. I would rather they be stored with pet food and not normal groceries.

I don't have any problem with kittyfood being displayed near "normal" food, but in our local Coles it sits rather oddly beside the rubbish bags and laundry powder .... I find this quite bizarre, especially given the rather pretentious names some firms are giving their catfood now - you know the sort of thing: "Tuna mornay with a jus of crayfish and snapper and whole tiger prawns" ....

I haven't found it near the Rat-Sak but i do find it OPPOSITE the Dog food. My store makes sense. Whiskas 400grm tins are currently selling for 99cents until Sunday 12th August at IGA stores. Grab them while you can. Don't know about all States. I live in Brisbane, Sunny Queensland. Cheers

At my local Coles it is actually in the Baby aisle.
Which I think is very appropriate!

I go to several supermarkets here in Adelaide and to be honest most have the cat food either opposite or alongside the dog food, when I say most that includes 1 Coles, 4 Woolworths, 5 IGA and at least 1 Foodland. It isn't a universal thing though as a few sometimes have them next to cleaning products as well. I think it is up to the store manager to organise much of the product placement. The main thing to consider is can you find your whiskas when you need to. My biggest problem is that I can't bend down low enough to reach the whiskas on the bottom shelf without considerable pain. Every store in my local area puts whiskas on the botttom two shelves.

At our Coles, the catfood is in the same aisle as stationery. Dog food gets its own (longer) aisle.

Supermarket bosses probably can't tell the diff between the word "pets" and "pest' or its alphabetical? I agree though. Try explaining ratsack and traps to your 6yr old when she's there choosing rodent treats for her pet rat. & what if they have a package leak near the petfood? We lost a bunch of guinea pigs to unknown causes last year & we were buying thir grain at the supermarket at the time. Didn't occur to me then but it makes me wonder now that you mention it.

At my local supermarkets the cans are on the bottom shelf which makes it really hard for me as a disabled pensioner to bend down and see/get what i need, and the price has gone up from 99c 2yrs ago to $1.68

I think that pet food should be stored in the same aisle as the paper towels, tissues etc.

There is such a huge range of pet food available now that maybe there should be a whole aisle dedicated only to pet food!

AT my Coles the pet food and accessories are on one side of the "household" aisle, and the laundry, dishwashing detergents etc are on the other side. Can't say I have been looking for Ratsak. The Baby aisle does seem very appropriate !!
