My beautiful tortoise shell Meggs has developed sudden blindness. She is 14 years old and has issues also with arthritis, this I can deal with but the blindness has really shocked me. Her eyes are completely healthy, but the vet said she has very high blood pressure and this could be the reason for the sudden lack of sight. She is now on blood pressure medication and prednisilone. The hope is that once her blood pressure is under control her sight may return. Has anyone else in the Whiskas world had an issue with this problem. My little girl started life as a street cat & was pretty wild when she came to us at 7 months old, but seemed to respond to my love and attention. It took a while for the rest of the family to get into her good graces, but she soon settled into our home. Megg gives the most wonderful hugs, it is like a young child but paws instead of arms going around your neck. She loved to play soccer with scrunched up paper, catching the paper in her front paws and pulling it to pieces with her teeth was a favourite pass time. Much school work of the kids was sent to school with a note saying "the cat ate their homework!!!!" My baby cant do that now, she cant see the paper :( Any advice would be appreciated

Sorry to hear this about your cat. I can't offer any help other than to say that my aunt had a cat that was blind or near blind and lived that way for several years, with just a little help from their dog. The cat still went in and out of the house.

I also had a very old cat that had very poor eyesight by the time she passed at nearly 23 years. She didn't like it when things got moved around but otherwise just went through her daily paces without any problems. When the kittens emptied the water bowl (her preffered), she would just sit by it waiting for it to be refilled rather than going to one of the many other bowls, which I guess she may not be as aware of as they weren't on her general "route".

Good luck!
