My cat Willie is about 16 and is starting to develop kidney problems. This is apparently very common in older cats. As a result he needs to lower his protein & salt intake. This means buying special food, which is bland and generally very unappealing, and only available through veterinary clinics. It would be a good opportunity, in my view, for Whiskas to develop a range of food (tins and dry) that would assist this condition and still taste good. And to be more widely available through supermarkets. Surely this is possible, given there are products that treat furball and dental issues already available at supermarkets! I think this is something Whiskas should at least consider as it would mean the Whiskas range offers complete treatment for older cats without having to switch brands.

About to have same issues - Splat is 12 yro and undergoing a hip operation as we speak. Vet advises he will be needing special attention in future - at his age kidney trouble is a major issue for cats!!!

Our cat Max has just been diagnosed with early stage renal failure (he is 16), and we have the same problem - the veterinary renal food is very bland, and frankly he just doesn't like it. It is also expensive, and as we are pensioners, this is an issue. There are good recipes for home made renal diets on the internet, but they are time consuming and some of the ingredients are hard to source. It would be great if Whiskas could consider the dietary needs for cats with diabetes or renal problems and come up with a range.

Gizmo is 17 and in the early stages of kidney problems. i have been feeding her cubed boiled chicken that i buy on special and fish that my husband catches but because she get bored of that i have been swaping it up and feeding her the whiskars adult aswell. is it real bad now that she is drinking water (out of the dogs bowl) and never has before? (she has only ever drank milk diluted with water) very worried that the end is comming closer.

Kostyer is 19 and has kidney problems, her teeth are very bad and that is causing problems with her kidneys, Vet suggested a kidney transplant, only $3,000, but no assurance she would survive anyway, that is also the reason nothing can be done for her teeth, so she has antibiotic shot every six months, but this will get closer as she declines, inbetween I keep her as content as possible, and also as comfortable as possible, what more can you do but give them all the love you can, they repay you ten times over.
