Some cats can be quite solitary.....or they want their owner to themselves. Perhaps your cat does not see dogs as rivals (or maybe your cat has been used to being around them since kittenhood). Either way, getting your partner's cat and yours used to each other would be the way to go. There's no saying that even if you got your cat to bond with others, the same goes with your partner's cat. They are such unpredictable creatures.
