Wodonga Repatriation FAQs
With our Wodonga Pouch Factory opening, we're sharing answers to some frequently asked questions.
What has happened across the WHISKAS® range?
We’ve made the exciting decision across the WHISKAS® wet pouch range to bring production to Australia. The heart of this move is all about giving pet parents and your cats the very best - continued high-quality ingredients with the same great taste to keep your cat happy and healthy.
Producing locally also helps us reduce our environmental impact by shortening supply chains and cutting down on transport emissions. It’s a step forward for your cat, for you, and the planet.
When is the change happening?
From October 2026, you’ll start seeing ‘Australian-made’ products in store, starting with the WHISKAS® in Jelly range. The rest of the WHISKAS® wet pouch products will follow shortly after, as we continue to transition the entire range to local production over time.
Have you changed the recipe? Are the ingredients the same?
The core recipes have had adjustments to take in to account the ingredient availability in Australia. While you may notice a slight change in the product appearance, rest assured, any changes are minimal, and we are continuing to use high-quality ingredients to maintain the same great taste and quality for your cat.
Have you changed the nutritional benefits of WHISKAS® recipes?
No, the nutritional benefits haven’t changed. Your cat’s health and wellbeing are our top priority, and every WHISKAS® recipe continues to provide the complete and balanced nutrition your cat needs. While we’re now using more locally sourced, high-quality ingredients, the nutritional value your cat gets from their favourite meals remains the same.
Why does the nutritional panel look different?
While the nutritional panel may look a little different, rest assured there is no change to the nutritional benefit your cat receives. The update simply reflects our alignment with new Australian meat labelling standards. The recipes remain complete and balanced, delivering the same high-quality nutrition your cat needs and loves.
Why have you changed the packaging of the WHISKAS® wet pouch range?
Our new packaging design is designed to help consumers easily identify the WHISKAS® range, helping our consumers to easily navigate and identify the best product for their cat.
Is the WHISKAS® pouch packaging recyclable? Why not? What are you doing about it?
At the moment, our pouches are not recyclable as they must be able to withstand the cooking process. But we are working towards making all our packaging recyclable in the future.
Does the feeding guide change?
How much wet food to feed depends on the weight of your cat, which can be found on the pack or our website.
Is there going to be old and new product on shelf at the one time?
Yes, these will be rolling into stores from October 2026. However, the speed to which products sell in various stores can slightly differ. By having old and new product on shelf at the same time, Pet Parents will be able to gradually transition their cats to the new recipe, following the transition guide available on the pack.
What is Mars doing to manage supply continuity during this country-of-origin changeover?
We have ensured we have taken into consideration the change and demand for the range to ensure that supply is available during this transition.
